The Lancet: “Antimicrobials: sustainable access and effectiveness”

The Lancet, the world's leading independent general medical journal, in collaboration with Imperial College London and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, is publishing a new series titled: “Antimicrobials: sustainable access and effectiveness”.

The series will cover issues such as access to effective antimicrobials as a global challenge, understanding the mechanisms and the drivers of antimicrobial resistance and exploring the evidence base for national and regional policy interventions to combat resistance.  


Drug Resistance: Worse, And Still A Lot To Learn

Coinciding with World Antibiotic Awareness Week, National Geographic published an article, by Dr Maryn McKenna, which provides discouraging news about resistant bacteria. 

The article points out that recent reports indicate "that the incidence of highly drug-resistant bacteria is increasing" and "a WHO multi-country survey shows that large numbers of people still don’t understand how antibiotic resistance arises, and are doing things that make it worse."  Read More >>
