Merry Christmas from Elmwood Players

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season. We hope you enjoy this update on what has been happening at Elmwood Players this year and what is coming up in 2017.

From the President

Hi there Elmwoodites,

I trust all is good in your world and that you are all set for the fast approaching festive season.  I know there are a lot of tired people out there as this year seems to have been a particularly challenging one in many ways.
You’ll notice a new look to our newsletter, as we progress to a permanent change from our previous editions.  We’ll continue to enhance this in the early part of next year.  We are also looking at updating our Elmwood Players web page, and this also be progressed in the early part of 2017.  Sarah Coursey is temporarily looking after the newsletter, while Sam Primrose and Craig Woolgar are working on the website.  A big thank you must go to Brian Sullivan who has been the man behind both the newsletter and website for the past number of years, and continued to do so even when he relocated to the Far North.  Thanks Brian.
We have a solid programme lined up for 2017 – one that I am really looking forward to.  A highlight is going to be our season of one act plays, “Mix ‘n Match”, where we are looking at staging (up to) three new, New Zealand plays.  And its also pleasing to see the return of Doug Clarke, an Elmwood Life Member, who will direct our first production in April.  Also exciting is the refurbishment of the Elmwood auditorium in the first quarter of the year.  I’m led to believe that apart from a paint job, there will be new carpet in the foyer and new seating.
So, that’s it from me for this year.  On behalf of the Elmwood Players Committee, here’s wishing you a safe, relaxing Xmas and holiday season – see you next year.

Upcoming Auditions

"All This Intimacy"

By Rajiv Joseph

Dir: Douglas Clarke QSM

April 2017

Auditions by arrangement from 10:30am Sunday 19 February (further details will be available in the New Year)

A comedy about friendship and lust and how the two don't mix.

Ty Greene is a normal guy with three very big problems. In an unprecedented (for him) run of promiscuity, Ty has managed to impregnate three women in the span of one week: His ex-girlfriend, his 40-something married next-door neighbour, and his 18 year-old student. In this edgy comedy Ty's problems illuminate every triumph and failure of his life, and as the women in his world converge and figure out what's happened, Ty realizes that his life is adrift, and that he only has a limited time to try to piece it back together.
