Wednesday, March 15th, 6:15pm
From the Nominating Committee of Peoples Church What is the Nominating Committee? Our job is to find and nominate people willing to fill needed positions on the church’s board. The vetted nominees for these positions will then be voted on, by the congregation. To do this, we compare qualifications of those leaving the board due to the end of a two year term and applicants. Then, we brainstorm about the different skill sets and personality traits which would best round out the board. Our goal is to provide potential nominees, who will help the board function most efficiently to move Peoples Church forward and continue to serve the mission of our faith.
And so, we are calling on you! Do your skills apply to Peoples Church’s needs right now during our developmental ministry? Up to three seats on the board will be open at the May meeting. We are looking for specific qualities which would be most helpful at this time: Legal/Law, Human Resources, Financial, Leadership Experience (i.e., boards, committees in community/church/school/job); Community Outreach, Spiritual Outreach, Event Coordinator.
If you or someone you know has one or more of these qualities and the drive to continue to help make positive change in our church – please contact us! E-Mail, Call, or text any of our four members. We need your Name (or the name of the person you are nominating if not yourself), your E-mail Address, Home Address, and phone number. Please include the qualities you possess which we are looking for, as well as your own reason why you consider yourself or person you suggest is a good fit for the board! We will contact you about the process, from there. Please submit your information by March 5th.

Social Justice News
A Show of Unity: Prayers and Meditations for Immigrants & Refugees
Reverend Hinds and church members represented Peoples at the Standing in Solidarity: A Call for Fair Policing & Justice Reform event on February 4. This beautiful and inspiring event culminated in the adoption of a 12 step platform for seeking justice in police and prosecutorial policies and processes in Cedar Rapids. Representatives of the sponsoring organizations for the event will be advocating for such policies as mandating outside independent investigators and special prosecutors for officer-involved shootings. Contact Marcia Swift if you would like to learn more about the plans to address this social injustice in our community and how you can get involved.

The Battle is on for Boston! Join us for this fun, active, family and friendly event for youths and adults.
$10 per entry
Please bring your own Nerf weapons, if possible, as only some will be available.
The Mardi Gras fundraiser dinner did raise some money for Boston, but attendance was less than what we hoped for. A huge thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed our Cajun feast. Our Coming of Age youth put several hours into our preparing for this fundraiser, and a good return came into being. We have decided due to the low attendance, that we will not be having any more dinners this year, but we will be having a pancake breakfast in March and April.
Students should gather in our classrooms by 10:55 am on Sunday mornings unless notified of a change.
