TrackTown Youth League Heads to Hillsboro Saturday

The 2017 TrackTown Youth League, presented by Providence Sports Medicine, heads to Hillsboro this week, after debuting last Tuesday in Hermiston.  The second of 14 free all-comer youth track meets across Oregon will take place Saturday morning at Century High School, followed by meets this month in Newberg and North Portland.  Top finishers at each meet will advance to the TrackTown Youth League Championship on June 10, following the conclusion of the NCAA Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. 

The TrackTown Youth League is open to all boys and girls ages 7-14, at no cost.  No prior track and field experience is needed to participate.

High School Hoop Stars Get Ready for NW Shootout

The Oregon Sports Authority is excited to assist in organizing this year's Merritt Truax Memorial Northwest Shootout on Saturday, April 15 at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.  The Northwest Shootout is an opportunity to see the top Oregon and Washington senior girls and boys basketball players cap their high school careers by competing for Pacific Northwest bragging rights.

This year the Oregon girls team is led by USA Today Player of the Year and Tennessee recruit Evina Westbrook of South Salem, along with Kennedy Fulcher of West Linn and Bendu Yeaney of St. Mary’s.  The Oregon boys team is led by PIL Player of the Year Geno West of OSAA 6A state champion Jefferson, and Elijah Gonzales of Clackamas.  The Oregon vs. Washington girls game is at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Oregon vs. Washington boys game at 6:00 p.m.

Rose Festival Half Marathon Coming to Beaverton in May

Join the Rose Festival tradition for the 6th Annual Rose Festival Half Marathon on Sunday, May 28.  This late spring event is charting new territory for greater Portland racers with its new route in Beaverton, featuring a unique mix of modern urban landscaping and ancient natural areas.  The fast, scenic course begins at Southridge High School, then travels through the Greenway neighborhood and up Hall Boulevard toward the edge of Old Town Beaverton.  This event is perfect for first-timers and race veterans alike!  Participants will receive a quality finisher shirt, finisher medal, collectible coin, chip timing, finish food and more!

USA BMX Great NW Nationals Hit Redmond This Weekend

More than 1,000 of the best BMX racers in the country are making their way to Redmond this week for the USA BMX Great Northwest Nationals at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds.  Free for spectators to attend, the event draws athletes young and old to race in multiple age groups along a 1,100-foot jump-filled track.  This year's event will also serve as a qualifier for the 2017 UCI World BMX Championships.  The Oregon Sports Authority is proud to help bring the USA BMX Nationals back to Central Oregon for the 10th consecutive year!
