Volunteer of the Month – Jim Rondeau!
Nominated by Firetower Aid Station Chief - JB Ellis

Jim Rondeau has been a faithful volunteer for over 5 years and he has made a great impact on my ability to coordinate an effective food station. I have no hesitation to delegate responsibilities to him and know they will get done.   He is one of those rare individuals who does what he says without complaints.   For example, as I am gathering volunteers in Cable at 7am, Jim is already hard at work at the aid station - starting the fire in the warming house, mixing countless gallons of energy drink, filling water buckets, setting up the tables, and preparing garbage cans - before I even get there.  Rarely do you have a volunteer who works hard behind the scenes and yet is very humble when you thank him.   If I can say one word "humble" is Jim Rondeau.   He unquestionably is the back-bone of the Fire Tower Food Station.   Congratulations and thanks for all you do for the Birkie, Jim!

Join Team ALS!  A limited number of Birkie & Korte entries are available.

A commemorative, limited edition ski suit is available at
Hidden Bay Graphics in Hayward.  A contribution will be made to the WI Chapter of ALS with the purchase of every ski suit.  You need not be a Team ALS member to wear the suit.  Email Dan or call 715-634-5770.

Harness the Power of a Power Nap!

For most of us, the daily nap was a sacred ritual when we were young, but as we grew older, the demands of school and other activities led us to abandon the practice. Recent studies have shown, however, that daytime napping for all ages is beneficial. When done right, naps can improve performance and reduce stress, leading to an overall healthier life. According to Sara C. Mednick, PhD, sleep expert, and author of Take a Nap! Change Your Life, a 15-20-minute “power nap” provides incredible benefits. “You reset the system and get a burst of alertness and increased motor performance.” Mednick offers the following tips for making the most of your nap time...
