Cleaning up Dora Creek
The Dora Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Group teamed up with the Dora Creek Progress Association in November to hold a successful Eco Angel Clean Up - collecting 320kg of litter!

Contacting the Alliance during January
Rachelle, the Alliance Secretariat, is on leave from 19 December, returning 9 February 2015!
You can still contact the Alliance during that time with the same contact details.
Shandala Loving from Council will be happy to help with any requests while Rachelle is taking a well earned break.

Some of the best ideas come to you while you are relaxing. 
If you're suddenly inspired with a great project idea over the holidays, keep these grant programs in mind.

There's many grant programs available, but these ones are particularly relevant for Sustainable Neighbourhood projects.

Council's Environmental Sustainability Grants
Grants up to $3000 for community based sustainability projects in Lake Macquarie.
Next round opens February 2015.

SITA Community Grants
Grants from $500 to $5,000.  Next round opens early 2015.  Focus areas include:
  • Encouraging community involvement to improve the local environment
  • Environmental education and awareness
  • Improving health and wellbeing
  • Encouraging recreation and community building
Australia Post Our Neighbourhood Grants
Grants up to $10,000  for projects that will help to build healthier, more vibrant and more inclusive communities across Australia.
  Next round opens in March 2015 (TBC).  Key focus areas include:
  • Digital inclusion
  • Workplace inclusion
  • Community inclusion
  • Disaster readiness
  • Small business innovation
NRMA Community Grants
Grants from $500 to $5,000.  Next round opens in March 2015 (TBC).  Categories include:
  • Crime prevention
  • Road safety
  • Emergency readiness and response
  • Environment
