Celebrating Sustainable Neighbourhoods

Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers had a lovely day at the annual celebration and AGM.
We welcomed Christine from Greater Charlestown to the Alliance Board, along with all the returning Board members.
Thank you to everyone who participated, and updated us on your fantastic projects.  The project summary is available here, and the AGM minutes are also available.

The Resilient Dora Creek Project
The Dora Creek Sustainable Neighbourhood Group are working with the Dora Creek Progress Association, Council and the SES to prepare a Community Safety Plan, to help Dora Creek residents be informed, prepared, safe and resilient during exposure to severe weather and natural disasters.
The pilot project could be used as a model to enhance community resilience in other areas.
Meanwhile, with the bushfire season already upon us, find out what you should be doing to prepare now.

Upcoming Sustainable Neighbourhood events

Saturday 29 November - Dora Creek Eco Angel litter clean up.

Friday 5 December - Wangi Twilight Christmas Fair.  Details to be confirmed.

Details for all of these events can be found on our webpage.

The community calendar lists heaps of upcoming sustainability events organised by Sustainable Neighbourhood groups and other organisations.
Planning for the summer slow down

It's about this time of year that our attention turns to holidays, family, and a well-earned beverage.
As your group's activities wind up for the year, take time to celebrate what you've achieved, and take stock of your group's aspirations for 2015.  Expect participation in Sustainable Neighbourhood activities to be slow in December and January, and use that time to rest and refresh.
