Highly Commended in the Blue Star Awards
Sustainable Neighbourhoods has won Highly Commended in the Keep NSW Beautiful Blue Star Awards.
The award, in the Community Environmental Achievement category, recognises community groups that demonstrate outstanding commitment to their environment and show initiative, leadership and embody community spirit - an excellent description of the Sustainable Neighbourhoods network!
Our nomination drew on achievements from a range of Sustainable Neighbourhood projects over the last 12 months.
Give yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back for this outstanding result.

Last chance to add your voice
We still need your help to guide the future direction of the Sustainable Neighbourhood network.
About 8% of Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers have completed the survey so far, but we want to accurately represent all 500 or so of our members and contacts.
The survey asks about your motivations and experience with Sustainable Neighbourhoods, whether you are already very involved, or are happy to just be kept in the loop.  Either way, your responses are important to inform how we plan for the future.
We estimate it takes about 15-20 minutes.

The survey will close on Monday 12 September.

Who stands out in your group?  Or is the quiet achiever?
What events and achievements are you most proud of?

  • Volunteer of the Year

Please let us know if you would like to make a nomination, and we will submit all Sustainable Neighbourhood nominations through the Alliance.
MailChimp training
Is your group using or considering using MailChimp (or a similar service) to manage your emails and contact list?
We are organising an informal session with Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers to share tips about how best to use these tools.
Please let us know if you are interested, and we will arrange a suitable time and venue.
Living Smart Festival, 24 September 2016
Council's Living Smart Festival is fast approaching, and we are seeking volunteers to help at the Sustainable Neighbourhoods stall.
This year we are excited to be situated alongside the Ocean Action Pod, which will complement our plastic pollution campaign and promote Council's Eco Angel program.
The festival is an excellent chance to promote your group, encourage new sign ups, and spend some time with other Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers.  The festival goes from 8am-2pm, and we've split the day up into approx 2 hour shifts:
  • 7.00–9.15am  (Includes set up from 7-8am)
  • 9.00–11.15am
  • 11.00am–1.15pm
  • 1.00–3.00pm  (Includes pack up from 2–3pm)
Please let us know if you're available for any of these times.
Don't worry if you've never volunteered at one of our promotional stalls before.  We always ensure there's at least 2 volunteers at the stall at all times. There will be experienced volunteers there to help you, and we provide all the equipment and materials to help you engage with the public.
