Dear Be the Choice Supporters,
We've missed you!
As all of you have, all of us at Be the Choice have been riding this unexpected wave of change for the last months, trying to stay home, stay healthy, and support our communities in need. Let's face it, life has taken all of us on a bit of a dramatic ride this year. So, we've been a bit quiet.
Quiet, but plodding.
We've always said that cancer patients need choices now more than ever before. This is especially so now that their treatments are being delayed, surgeries cancelled and appointments postponed. As our health systems try to cope with COVID-19, cancer patients are waiting. We understand why, but this doesn't make it any easier.
Breast cancer patients need us more than ever before. We're open 24-7, we're peer reviewed, we're sensitive to reproductive health, we're comprehensive in outlining surgical options, we're responsive to their treatment pathways. We are here to help.
You can read all about what we've been up to in more detail below, but perhaps the most important in terms of patient care is the update we've made to the Decision Trees. Thanks to a team of medical students at the University of Ottawa, we carefully curated the best resources the web has to offer and included them on the relevant pages. Now, instead of reading about the options, patients can consult studies, watch videos or discover other reliable web pages for information. We're so excited about these changes, we've even designed an entire holiday contest around it! Participate and get ready to win some great prizes!
See below for all of the other exciting things happening, including a new research study on Be the Choice being conducted at Ottawa University and the new BTC team members.
