How does $292 get you to a career in aeronautics?

Hint: it’s not about the money. Find a TAME Board Member’s inspiring story below

We’re also proud to highlight the next generation of engineers who competed in Divisional STEM Competitions across Texas. What inspired some of them to be a part of TAME? Great teachers and STEM Events in their community! We are thrilled that Boeing is sponsoring another series of Family STEM Events at schools across Texas (details below). Plus, TAME Board Member Tamara Crawford has some inspiration for encouraging students in STEM.

Boeing Sponsored Family STEM Events

The TAME Traiblazers connect students to STEM concepts and real-life educational and career tracks. Every year, our science-museums-on-wheels travel more than 20,000 miles, delivering hands-on STEM excitement and inspiration to over 20,000 kids in communities across Texas.

Where will the Trailblazers travel next? You can help decide! Boeing recently awarded funding to help Texas schools invest in their community by hosting a Family STEM Event. Applications for this unique mini-grant opportunity are now open, and we invite you to apply before the deadline of 5pm on Friday, April 15th, 2016.

..."no job, family, interview, or connections, and with only $292 in my pocket."

Thirteen years ago, Tamara Crawford was headed to Texas, determined to work at Lockheed Martin. Now, she has a successful career as a Lead Systems Engineer, and she's being honored by BEYA, one of the most prestigious and competitive honors in science, engineering, and technology management, for her work in encouraging students in STEM.

How did she get there? After deciding to become an engineer in 8th grade, she worked hard -- and she believed her parents when they told her that anything is possible.
