“So, when He heard that Lazarus was ill, He stayed two days longer in the place where He was.”
Imagine for a moment the absolute silence during those days in that home at Bethany. Jesus had stayed two days longer in that place where He was after He had received the message regarding Lazarus’ illness; and it was actually two more days before He had finally arrived.
And, what makes it even more difficult to comprehend is that this family who found themselves in this desperate place were loved by Jesus. They were His dear friends with whom He was in close personal relationship. In fact, Mary was the one who had anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair.
Yet, imagine - there they were, waiting as they cried out for the only One they knew could heal their brother. I can’t help but wonder how many other precious souls find themselves in that same place today. That place of God’s silence.
I would say, be comforted! For just as we know the end of this precious story from John 11, we can stand in absolute trust and confidence in His Word and in the truth that our loving Heavenly Father hears our prayers just like He heard the hearts of those who were also suffering at that time.
And, I would also say, begin to praise Him on this side of the miracle before the actual manifestation comes and allow the fuller revelation to arise! That fuller revelation of the bright Morning Star which always precedes the dawn!
The peace of God guards my heart and mind.
