I. Editorial: The Sky is Falling.

Seems like every year, we hear politicos say, “This is the most important election of your lifetime.” And every year, I roll my eyes.

Not this year.

A major party is trying to hand the country over to a dangerous, manipulative, lying, vindictive, pridefully ignorant, racist, sexist narcissistic demagogue and I wish these were the worst things that can be said about him. Worst of all, the usual things that defeat candidates won’t work with this guy. The crazy things he says and does gain him even more support. If this man is elected, it will be horrible for us, our kids and our grandkids and all of us know it.

In other words, this isn’t the election to say, “I’m going to sit this one out.” We’ll all be called to give a lot of time and money, but maybe the most important thing we can do for now is find out what we’re up against. Most of us know someone who is supporting this guy, someone whom we may have disagreed with in the past, but we respected as a regular, rational person. Don’t avoid conversations with this person, but, without arguing your case, try to find out what they like about this sociopathic blowhard so we can figure out how to stop the brainwashing infection from spreading. What are we dealing with besides blind anger and fear and bullying?

And then, let’s get to work and elect a Democrat for the love of all that’s holy.

After all, the sky is falling!

II. Message from the Chair

As we Pennsylvania Democrats gear up for the General Election, you may have the occasion to contact someone on the PA Democratic Party Staff.  Here they are, along with their brief bios and contact information.  Read and enjoy.

Lois Herr

Chair, Lebanon County Democratic Committee

F. WE NEED YOU!!

We know it’s not even summer yet, but we’re going to need a lot of people at the end of July for two simultaneous events: Lebanon County Fair (July 23-30) and Central PA Pride Festival in Harrisburg) and even more at the end of August for the Fiesta Latina (Aug 27). We’ll be making up schedules soon, but for the Fair, we need people the most on evenings and weekends. For the Festival, it’s all on a Saturday and we’ll have shifts that you can choose. Most representatives do not expect people to be paying attention.  That’s why the more people call and express their opinions, the more likely we will be listened to. Even if you know they will never vote your way on an issue, they do keep records of how many constituents disagree with them and it might help if they hear push back from their colleagues.
