II. Local News

A. Other events

Lebanon County Democrats are doing a lot to get our candidates elected this year, but other counties are doing plenty of things, too, and some of you/us may want to get involved. Here’s a couple we know about:

1. Dauphin County -- Race Against Racism

The Dauphin County DC will be participating in and is a community sponsor of the YWCA's 12th Annual 'Race Against Racism' 5K Run/Walk on April 30, 2016. This event promotes awareness of racism and injustice in our communities and raises vital funds to the YWCA to support their racial justice programs.

They still need volunteers! The YWCA is sponsoring a team cup challenge. The team with the most number of pre-registered team members win a prize, and individuals can also win prizes! We have 13 people who signed up to walk or run. Please sign up on the following link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040549a8ac29aa8-ywcas1 if you are interested in joining the DCDC team! You do not need to do anything else after signing up on the above link. The DCDC will take care of everything else. But sign up before April 6th!

Also, following the Race will be a Humanity Festival featuring culturally diverse entertainers, food, vendors and fun activities for children of all ages. The DCDC will have a table at the festival. Please sign up for a shift! There are lots of shifts available. The link to sign up for a shift is: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040549a8ac29aa8-ywcas

Please email Rogette Harris (Dauphin County DC Chair) at rogetteharris@gmail.com or call 717-233-1321 with any questions about the event. We hope you can participate!

2. Pride Festival

The Pride Festival is growing every year and the Dauphin County Committee has always had a table and this year we’d like to have a presence, too. They had 5,000 attendees last year and it’s a good opportunity for local candidates and volunteers to connect with this audience. Unfortunately, it’s the same weekend as the Democratic Convention in Philly and the Lebanon Area Fair, but if you’re not working either of those events, please consider this fun event!

3. Other Events

If you hear about other volunteer or fundraising or just plain fun opportunities for Democrats, please let us know!

B. Thinking about running for office in 2017?  Please get in touch with the Campaign Committee at Campaign@lebanondemocrats.com, text or call 717-873-7680 and we can steer you to the resources you will need.  Also, plan to attend the LCDC Seminars we are scheduling for 2016.

C. The 2016 Democratic National Convention is on the horizon!.  If you want to  volunteer, all we know now is that there is a site on the web where you can indicate your interest in volunteering: http://www.phldnc.com/help-make-history/

III. Stories

A. Anna Cunha Century Club

The Lebanon County Democratic Party continues to grow support for our democratic values and support of candidates in Lebanon County and beyond. This past year we were successful in electing 9 Democratic candidates to public office and were a part of electing 5 Democratic judicial candidates to state office which will have a positive impact on PA politics for the next decade and beyond. This year we are working to support the national races for President, US Senate and House as well as several local state candidates.

To continue our progress we need your support as a donor and member of the Anna Cunha Century Club. Contributions of $50, $75 or $100 or more are welcome to sustain our party in Lebanon County, but a contribution of $100 or more can make a larger impact as we prepare for the 2016 national and state campaigns.

Century Club donations can be made by check or online through Act Blue.  We are only halfway to our budgeted goal and need to pay our bills and prepare for the fall campaign. Dig deep to win in November.

C. Spring Fling Mt. Zion Community Fire Hall, 1520 Mt. Zion Road, Lebanon

Is April 9th, so ACT NOW if you haven’t signed up.  Reception starts at 5 pm. Our State Auditor, Eugene DePasquale will be our keynote speaker. Meet candidates, dig through your attic for some Silent and Live Bid Auction items for this event. Or you can buy something you think will sell well at the auction. There’s still time for you to get a SPRING FLING SILENT AUCTION item to Lorraine Scudder. Call her at 717-222-8386.

Any last minute questions?  Call Dan Sidelnick at 717-926-0473.

IV.       CONTACTS

For the overall best source of government and media contacts, see this link:

http://www.whatisworking.com/contact-congress-address-phone-twitter-html/

Most representatives do not expect people to be paying attention.  That’s why the more people call and express their opinions, the more likely we will be listened to. Even if you know they will never vote your way on an issue, they do keep records of how many constituents disagree with them and it might help if they hear push back from their colleagues.
