Business Rates - Going Up Significantly?

2017 will almost certainly see rises in rateable values in London and the South East, the rate in the pound increase to over 50p for the first time and introduces a more complex appeal process which will make appeals difficult

Aitchison Raffety will explain in an easily digestible manner why rates are likely to go up, why they may well go up further in 2020, how to budget for the increases and how to potentially get them down.

Ensure that you are fully prepared in plenty of time!

This month I had the great pleasure of visiting Budapest on behalf of our Chamber as a result of an invitation extended to us by the Budapest Chamber of Commerce who had been introduced to us through our member Marcus Patterson at this year's St George's Day lunch.

I was joined in Budapest by our Vice President June Cory and Executive Director Lisa Bates-Wallis and together we attended the 25th anniversary gala dinner of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hungry and participated in a SME Business Forum focusing on how to increase business between Hungry and the UK. When the invitation arrived from the Budapest Chamber of commerce, I felt it was important to accept it given the potential links which we may be able to establish for our members in this growing economy.

I also felt that this was a real recognition of our efforts as a business community to appeal to those who may previously have only looked towards London for assistance and advice rather than reaching out to a business community such as ours with access to skills, markets and expertise on a par with a city such as London.

Video sells products on the web

Internet Retailer says visitors who view product videos are 85% more likely to buy than visitors who do not. Put simply, video sells. You can use it as one of the most powerful tools on your website. It drives interest. It drives conversion. And it even lowers your back-end costs, because visitors who've watched a product video and then buy that product are 50% less likely to return it.

Oh, and Google LOVES video! According to Marketing Week, video results appear in about 70% of the top 100 listings, the type of content most often displayed in universal or blended search results. (Marketingweek, 2011).

So what can you do with video on the web?
