Launching the First Apprentice Exchange Program in Austria

AFS Austria partners with the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation to launch the first Apprentice Exchange Program. 22 apprentices from Austria will travel to the United States to learn about sales, tourism and the leisure industry, experience American culture, improve their language skills, and advance their intercultural competence. Find out more.

AFS Belgium Flanders
AFS volunteers use their intercultural competences when helping refugees in their communities. Supported by the AFS Refugee Aid Foundation, volunteers in Austria provide language lessons, trauma counseling, and have worked with other organizations since 1978. AFS Belgium Flanders volunteers have established an asylum seekers buddy system to learn about the challenges of displaced people in Europe, and integrate refugees into their communities.
BP Global STEM Academies
"I want to inspire other girls to use opportunities given by programs like the BP Global STEM Academies to improve their skills and show them that professional fields like STEM are also interesting fields for women," says Feleknaz Aldadak from Germany. Feleknaz is one of the 100 participants from 15 countries at the BP Global STEM Academies that started this June in Brazil, Egypt and the USA. Find out more.

AFS Philippines celebrates the holy month of Ramadan by hosting AFS Dialogue: Being a Muslim in the Philippines. A range of experts, from youth to religious authorities, discussed and debated religious diversity and intercultural learning topics. Watch the recording of this event

AFS India Effect+
AFS India's Effect+ workshop tackles zero waste lifestyles, as one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AFS Effect+ workshops use interactive learning methods to teach students how they can advance the SDGs, while also helping them develop intercultural competences and make an impact in their local communities. Speakers at this event included environmentalist Sahar Mansoor, and businessman and teach specialist Sameer Shisodia.
