 – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

1 - 4pm, Wed 28 April, 2021 ONLINE 

We invite all those interested in applied health and social care research to join us to discuss and explore what is meant by Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in research. Professor Kamlesh Khunti will talk about his recent research on Covid 19 in ethnic minority populations, whilst Dr Esther Mukuka will talk about her new role as the NIHR Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).

RDS SE  NIHR Fellowship Event - ONLINE

Open to anyone across Kent, Surrey and Sussex who is considering applying for one of the NIHR fellowships. The aim of the day is to raise awareness and understanding of the various NIHR Fellowship opportunities for clinicians, practitioners and researchers and will be held online. Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex (HE KSS): 5 places at University of Brighton, MRes Health Research fees only funded course

The University of Brighton is once again the recipient of 5 fees only MRes Health Research funded places. This course is structured to include a significant research component and supporting taught modules. Students are often aiming to progress to a PhD application or employment with a research element. The MRes course is available to a range of health practitioners and can be completed full-time in one year, but is usually taken part-time over two years. Successful applicants receive HE KSS funding to support tuition fees only. To discuss, contact Course Leader Dr Nina Dunne n.dunne@brighton.ac.uk

CRN KSS event: Our journey so far supporting our BAME research workforce 
Wednesday 17 March 2021, 10.30am to 12.30 - ONLINE via MS Teams

In 2020 CRN Kent, Surrey and Sussex (CRN KSS) wanted to understand the impact of COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter on our BAME research workforce. This online event is an opportunity to find out how recommendations from the CRN KSS BAME report have been implemented and what the next steps are.

RDS SE, with the NIHR Centre for Engagement and Dissemination, launched: ‘That Co-production Podcast!’, an enjoyable series to increase accessibility of discussion and debate around co-production.  Each episode is hosted by RDS SE staff and lay PPIE team members Gary Hickey, Kati Turner and Julie Wright.

NIHR In-Practice Fellowship (IPF) Round 15

The NIHR In-Practice Fellowship (IPF) provides pre-doctoral academic training to fully-qualified general practitioners, general dental practitioners, and community dentists. The fellowship funds:
  • up to £4,500 for a personalised programme of academic training
  • salary costs for 50% of awardees’ time (based on clinical experience) over 24 months (or longer if part-time)
  • up to £1,000 for conference attendance (fees and travel and subsistence)
