What are your plans for today? Are you going in to work early, or expecting to stay late? Do you have a lot of chores or projects waiting for you at home? Maybe you are the guy or gal we are jealous of, because you have nothing to do… I just pray you are not one of the 22 veterans or 120 civilians who will be taking their life today. Suicide is real, has increased 25% in recent years, and is on the schedules of people you know. The scariest fact is that 54% of the time, the person did not have a diagnosed mental health condition. Veterans have a 10% higher risk of suicide because we went through a lot in the military, and struggle to find our place in the civilian world, but there is hope.
“In 2011, Noel G. realized I was not staying ahead of depression (or suicidal thoughts)… (and) convinced me to cycle in a Project Hero Challenge”, The Church and The Community, page 184. By the grace of God, I am alive today, and now save the lives of others, as a Project Hero Chaplain. Will you help? My last scheduled ride-chaplaincy is in Denmark this August, and I ask you to do three things. (1) Pray for myself, and other veterans. (2) Watch as I returned to where it all began, and cycled 200 miles in the 2018 Memorial Challenge. (3) Allow me to mail one signed book to any veteran or organization you designate, for every $100 you give to Project Hero... 10 for $1000.
As read in my book's reviews, “God redeems even the negative situations” and “the goal I felt this book speak to, is how to be successful”. We can make veterans successful, one at a time. Make a difference, today.
