FASD Waterloo Region Visits Queen's Park

From the left: Karen Huber, Lutherwood; MPP Sophie Kiwala; and Lisa Colombo, caregiver and community volunteer.

On May 20th Lisa Colombo and Karen Huber visited MPP Sophie Kiwala at Queen's Park. MPP Kiwala is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minster of Children and Youth Services and is leading the new FASD strategy for the province.

Lisa and Karen took the messages of early intervention, diagnosis and the need for long term case management to MPP Kiwala. Karen and Lisa's message was taken with enthusiasm and MPP Kiwala will be looking to Waterloo Region as her team crafts the strategy.

Carizon Summer Camp for Children Living with FASD

Carizon is once again hosting summer camp for children ages 8-12 who are living with FASD. Check out the flyer on our website:

This site introduces the neurobehavioural difficulties that may appear throughout the lifespan of individuals with FASD. It is important to recognize that, being a spectrum disorder, FASD can look different for different individuals. Not all individuals with FASD will experience all of the issues presented here. However, this site summarizes the common neurobehavioural features of FASD found in current research.
