Looking Back

Mendelssohn disc (& reviews)

We're really thrilled with people's reaction to the Mendelssohn disc that was recently released on Champs Hill Records. We recorded his Op.13 quartet in A minor, and other quartets recorded the rest of Mendelssohn's works for quartet. The 4 CDs are available to buy online; see the Recordings page of our website for details.

Bristol Proms - Hannah's View

The Bristol Proms were a huge success yet again. We're very honoured to be part of such a pioneering festival, embracing advances in technology and positively enhancing people's perception and commitment to classical music. This year, we performed one of Beethoven's late quartets, Opus 132. The music itself was unadulterated, but the visual performance was enhanced by live video footage of the quartet projected onto screens, and subtle lighting changes to add atmosphere. We sat in the round, and the audience closely surrounded us; pictures from the performance can be found at the Classic FM website.

Personally, I managed to forget about the cameras, and the performance felt even more intense because of the focused energy we felt from the audience. My Classic FM interview about the performance can be found here.
