ICDE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE GATHER TO DEVELOP STRATEGY
Looking forward to 2021-2024: What direction will ICDE take was the focus of the discussion for the new ICDE leadership

The ICDE Secretariat staff had the pleasure of hosting the first face to face Executive Committee (EC) meeting of 2020 with its new leadership.

EC members traveled from as far afield as Brazil, Canada and New Zealand for two days of meetings that focused on the ICDE Strategy for 2021-2024. During their stay they also had the opportunity to undertake the first ICDE focus group on the UNESCO initiative on the Futures of Education.

ICDE SYMPOSIUM: MEET US AT MOBILE LEARNING WEEK

ICDE members who are attending the Mobile Learning Week in Paris, France from 2-6 March, 2020 are invited to get in touch with the ICDE Secretariat to arrange face to face meetings for sharing of news and priorities. 

During Mobile Learning Week ICDE are looking forward to presenting a keynote on the subject of AI and inclusion. Meetings have already been scheduled between ICDE and partners to engage in discussions on open education resources and much more.

DCU to celebrate 40 years of transformation in 2020
Dublin City University is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and will host a year-long programme of events to mark this important milestone in the university’s history.  It is 40 years since the university enrolled its first students and celebratory activities are currently being planned to take place throughout the year, focused on the transformative positive impact that DCU has had on education, research and society across the last four decades.

David Atchoarena, UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) urges countries to redouble their efforts to ensure no one’s right to education is denied
The global challenges we face are enormous. Some 258 million children and youth still do not attend school, four million children and youth refugees are out of school, and 773 million adults around the world cannot read or write, most of them women. In too many cases, disadvantaged and marginalized groups remain excluded from participation in adult learning and education, as the new UNESCO Global Report on Adult Learning and Education points out. Their right to education is being denied. This is unacceptable.

ICDE member, the University of London and its member institution, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), have expanded their partnership with edtech company 2U, collaborating on the launch of seven brand-new, innovative online degrees.

Professor Carlos Alberto Oliveria has been appointed as a temporary technical advisor to the World Health Organisation (WHO) for the discussions centering on the WHO Learning strategy.
