UMBowl VI: Everybody Wins
Thanks to everyone who joined us in Las Vegas for UMBowl VI. Also, big shout out to those of you who couldn't make it in person, but tuned in from home. We love your dedication.
Here's how it all went down:
UMBowl VI kicked off with an entire set of your favorite pieces of improv stitched together to create five new pieces of music, called Raw Stewage. Attendees voted on their favorite live moments, and the band took those legos and assembled them into a handful of original songs, all debuted in Q1.
All ticket buyers also received a ballot to vote for the songs they'd most like to hear in the All Request quarter, from rarer UM tunes to alternate versions of "the hits" to classic covers -- including multiple new, unreleased options.
Q3 was a Stew Art Event, an S2. This one-of-kind Umphrey's innovation returned to UMBowl for its 6th triumphant year. The band played a full set of improvisation based exclusively on themes, ideas, scenes, and concepts presented by fans at the show. Themes like "Dready Zeppelin," "Flamenco Metal" and "Fear and Loathing" appeared before both the band and audience in real time.
Rounding out the festivities was the Choose Your Own Adventure experience. Those in attendance called the plays, as the band responded in real time. Voters chose from a wide variety of UM originals, improvisational styles, and cover songs and delivered one killer set!
