Message from the President

Hello friends,

As we approach the end of the year, we're busily planning for the exciting Centennial year ahead to increase our science and education impact, but also taking the time to reflect on the work of the Institute in 2015.  I still hear a lot of curiosity about the Institute's work, and I suspect even our close friends will find some surprises and learn from the quick overview in the slide show below.

If you're not yet among our supporters, or haven't made your contribution this year, there's still time to contribute with a gift eligible for a year-end tax deduction.  Every donation makes a difference and builds a future for science, education, and conservation at Schoodic.

Thank you,

Bird Survey

Eye Opener on Wintering Birds of Schoodic

December’s advance marks a turn of seasons in the bird world from the flow of migratory birds passing through our area to those that “settle” here to spend the winter. The Schoodic Institute’s Bird Ecology Program has launched a systematic survey to record the presence, abundance and distribution of identifiable wintering birds by conducting timed visual and auditory observation stops along the auto loop from Frazer Creek to Wonsqueak Harbor.  Surveys will take place each week from December through April. Observations will be reported to eBird where the data are available to researchers and birders alike. Read more here.
