We took a trip up to Mt. Charleston to remember how much we love the heat and how little warm clothing we now own.

New Year, New Beginnings

The new year always brings me hope of change. To my fault I love to look forward and see what can be changed and remodeled. Emmerie at times has to slow me down and tell me, "No, the closet doesn't need to be reorganized again." She may be right.
This year I haven't had to go looking for things to change. Instead change has hunted us down.
Four years ago, Emmerie and I made a decision to move to Las Vegas to start a church. We did this with the cooperation of not only you, our prayer and financial supporters, but with Daryl and Bethanie Thompson. They have been at the heart of every part of the ministry. Due to more specifics than I can give in a simple email, last week Daryl, Bethanie and their daughter moved to St. George, UT with a new opportunity for a job. With the loss of their family we are met with many challenges. The challenges are personal and ministry related. We are forced to change and this change echoes through everything we are doing. It is tempting in my nature to make many needed changes immediately, but I would ask for the Lord's patience and wisdom in knowing how to proceed. We have come up with many ideas, but in this delicate time we don't want to rush into a wrong decision for us and the church. Your prayers for us as a family and a church are needed so much right now. We thank you in advance for praying.
Another early source of change in 2017 is the potential adoption of our foster daughter. She is our second foster child to have come into our home and hearts. Early March was when we were planning on seeing parental rights terminated. This week however, we received an email from the caseworker telling us Malaya's mom asked to relinquish rights and an open adoption. While this is extremely exciting to see progress towards adoption being made there are many potential difficulties. We will be negotiating with a lawyer to decide how much contact birth mom and family will have with Malaya. This is by no means a simple and easy process. So although we want you to celebrate with us in this exciting news, we also ask for your prayers again for wisdom as we decide on hiring a lawyer and making decisions along the way. We would also appreciate you praying for God's providence to be present in these next few weeks as big decisions are made for Malaya, our family, and her mom.

Thank you!

We realize we are not the only ones going through change and difficult times of decisions. So as I finish typing this update I am praying for you as our friends, family and teammates. We pray you would abound still more in the knowledge of God, pressing on towards the goal! We thank you so much for your part in our lives!
