Artwork and Exhibitions

                                                                                  Source of Life

I seem to be moved to draw these days and Africa is where I am going with my drawings. Africa has always grounded me so I am following my intuition and just enjoying it.

"Source of Life" has been accepted into the "Water is Life" exhibition that will take place at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, and will then be traveling to many other venues across Europe, Asia and America.

Two of my pieces were exhibited in the International Quilt Festival in Houston in October. I'm thrilled to say that "Golden Girl" received a First Place Award and "Girls Are Strong" received a Third Place Award. Both were in the Painted Surface category.

2016 is a year with lots of traveling and teaching. Here are just a few places I will be teaching. Click on the blue to get more information:
Asilomar, Monterrey, CA
April: Annapolis, MD
May, Loudon, TN
November: Shoreline a
nd Sequim, WA

In 2016 I will also be offering a new 3-hour seminar called "Studio Secrets: Hollis Reveals her Creative Process" where I will be demonstrating on large screen how I paint and quilt a small piece with a face in it. We will be talking about how I make decisions for design, composition and color as I work.

I hope you can join me in one of my workshops. You can find my full schedule on my new website along with the descriptions of all of my workshops.

My Life

                                                                                           Major quantities of rain!

We have had a very rainy wet winter so far which has been perfect for me to take shelter in my studio drawing everyday!

As some of you know, I had to leave the International Quilt Festival in Houston last year because my mother had a hemorrhagic stroke on October 26th followed by another on Nov 7th. I spent a number of weeks in Pennsylvania with my parents during November and December. My mother is better now and back in chemotherapy. She really is like the little bunny that never stops!

It was time to revamp the website so we have been working on it to make it more user friendly. We now have more descriptions, updated pictures, better navigation, and easier purchasing options. You can also find my new giclee prints in many more options!
