Message from the Commodore
Labour Weekend is upon us and the weather looks encouraging. We will have two tractor drivers there to launch and retrieve which will speed things up a lot. If you prefer to launch your own boat the third tractor will be available for use.
Committee members will be in the carpark this weekend checking that all boats to be launched have blue tractor tags. If yours does not then please do not expect to be launched. We will have unclaimed tags on site for those who have not yet picked theirs up. As usual the rule is ‘no tag—no tractor.’
Remember you must have sufficient life jackets on board for the number of crew. This goes for all craft under 6.1m.
The Radio Tower service has begun and will operate on fine weekends through to Christmas and then every day until February. The club flag flies when the service is operating. Please call in on Channel 77 to lodge your Trip Report. The Tower team and the Coastguard are there to help when needed but it pays to let us know where you are going, how many on board, and your estimated time of return. For many boaties, Labour Weekend is the first chance to get their boats out for the summer and therefore the most likely time something might go wrong after a long lay-off, so please call Channel 77 to help us to help you.
Please ensure that there is absolutely no smoking on or near the deck, and can smokers make sure they dispose of their butts in a receptacle rather than on the carpark.
Finally this is a reminder about our guest policy. Members may bring guests three times a year provided they sign them in and remain present whilst their guests are in the club. This, of course does not include grandies and direct family over the summer—we love to see them and they are always welcome. If you have guests who enjoy coming to the club then after three visits in a twelve month period they must apply to join the club.
Paul Templer has organised another round of the "Top Angler" comp where you can take a pic of your fish alongside a measurement instrument and send it in for the comp prizes. It has been very popular to date, and also means you can return your fish to the sea if you wish.
Happy Boating

Thanks to all the members and members guests that support our raffles from the bar, but I’m sorry to say that unfortunately the last few raffles have been a bit short, can you please make sure you are putting your money in the jar before you put your name on the sheet.
We have a range of Waikanae boating club merch available at the bar
If you, as a club member, have particular skills in the build process, or fundraising and finance, and would be keen to put a ‘shoulder to the wheel’ we would love to hear from you.
Thanks to all the members that have already made offers to help.
Please call Graham, Peter, or Hannah.

Tractor Lockbox Code
Financial tractor members- The tractor lockbox code has been emailed out to all financial tractor members with the change on October the 3rd. If you have not received this, please reply to this email.
Note From The Tower
The tower will be manned again from the beginning of October through until the end of May 2023.
It will be manned on all weekends and Public holidays. Plus each day from Boxing Day 2022 until February 06 (Waitangi Weekend) 2023 on days suitable for boating.
Remember the volunteers in the tower give their time to watch out for boaties so make use of them on CH77. There will also be a monthly prize draw for callers to the tower.
Special Note: for members who launch their boat with their own vehicle or tractor make sure that you continue to give all the details of your boat, trailer and vehicle to the club each year so that in an emergency someone can be contacted.
