The Garland County Library’s solar eclipse glasses vendor, Amazon, has alerted the library over the weekend that it has not received confirmation from its glasses supplier that the glasses came from a recommended manufacturer. The library ordered eclipse glasses from Amazon to distribute for free to the community before there was doubt about the quality of the glasses. The library recommends that you DO NOT USE these glasses to view the sun or the eclipse. All glasses provided by the Garland County Library should be discarded.

Many of the low-cost eclipse glasses sold have been recalled. Before viewing the eclipse, it is recommended that you make sure your glasses are safe. Visit the American Astronomical Society online at for a list of reputable vendors.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our patrons is our first priority.

The Garland County Library enriches our community by creating and providing essential, meaningful connections -- to traditional library materials, to digital resources, and to each other through cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities.
