The Garland County Library recently joined over 30 other Arkansas libraries in the Arkansas Digital Library Consortium on OverDrive. But what does this mean for you? Instead of having free access to over 20,000 ebooks and audiobooks, you now have over 70,000 titles to choose from! Learn more about our migration to the ADLC here.
Our annual Summer Reading Program will end on July 31st, but we're still participating in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten initiative.
Studies have shown that reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding as well as preparing him or her for school. Reading together is fun and will create life-long memories for both of you.
Start reading early. Begin any time from your child’s birth until he or she enters Kindergarten. Read at your own pace and enjoy your time together.
Every book counts. You may include the books read to him or her by parents, caregivers, teachers, librarians, or siblings. You can even repeat books or listen to audiobooks.
Add a sticker to the library sticker chart for every 100 books read, earn a pick-a-book when you reach 500 books read, and earn a special prize when you reach 1000 books.
We've loved connecting with our patrons on our Summer Reading Facebook Group so much that we're going to keep it around. So, keep sharing your favorite reads, pics of your kids making library crafts, and let's keep the connection going.
The Garland County Library enriches our community by creating and providing essential, meaningful connections -- to traditional library materials, to digital resources, and to each other through cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities.
