For the second annual Hot Springs Book Festival (HSBF) focus will be on nature and conservation by celebrating bugs, birds, and blooms in Arkansas and beyond with presenters/authors Leslie Cooper, Holly Green, Douglas Tallamy, and Diana Hutts Aston; a walking tour with Audubon member Jerry Butler and a presentation from Janet B. Carson, Emeritus Extension Horticulture Specialist.

Teens aged 13-18 are invited to a book talk with author Holly Green about her YA novel, In the Same Boat.
Holly is a Texas native who writes about strong, independent girls that aren't afraid to take charge and make their mark. Writing was her lifelong dream and during this talk, she'll speak to interested teens about her writing process, the race that inspired her book, and more.

Douglas Tallamy is a professor at the University of Delaware who's taught entomology courses for 41 years, and authored over 100 research publications, including a best-selling book, "Nature's Best Hope".
Join us at the library for a virtual presentation with Tallamy about his Homegrown National Park project, which promotes using native plants to combat the biodiversity crisis.

Writing non-fiction books begins with two words: I wonder. Join award-winning author Dianna Hutts Aston for a book talk discussing curiosity and imagination. In her distinctive style known as "lyrical science," Aston delivers a vast amount of knowledge encompassing animal and plant life cycles, adaptations, rocks and minerals, pollination and seed dispersal, habitats, and reproduction.
Her books have been hand selected by former US President Barack Obama and NASA astronaut Melvin LeLand for public events. Her book, An Egg is Quiet, illustrated by Sylvia Long, received the American Academy for the Advancement of Sciences/Subaru SB&F prize for excellence in science writing in 2007.

Janet B. Carson, Emeritus Extension Horticulture Specialist, is highly regarded around Arkansas for her expertise, which led her to opportunities like writing a popular gardening column, appearing on radio and TV, and coordinating Arkansas Master Gardeners programs.
