News, information and much more for independent online news publishers.

Schedule set for largest gathering of local indie online news sites

The schedule is set, and soon the publishers of local independent online news sites from nearly 40 different states -- and others who care about the health of local journalism -- will arrive in Chicago for the 2017 LION Summit.

There is still time to join us at Columbia College Oct. 26-28 for a program packed with speakers, panels and workshops on the revenue, journalism, technology, audience and engagement issues facing local news organizations.

Register today.

This year's LION Summit will also feature a "boot camp" on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 26, geared toward new publishers and idea-stage local news entrepreneurs. It will include information on how to develop a business plan, build a local advertising sales operation from the ground up, figure out an audience development plan, and know what kind of software and tech tools you need to run a local online news organization.
