July is bringing lots of new changes to the Refuge.
Dreams are finally coming to be a reality and exciting plans are being created.
We are celebrating Our Dreams Coming True in July and August.
If you can make it out for visit we would love to show you the new barn as it is being built.
The George/Mule Barn is being built and we will be hosting a Celebration of George Finally Coming Home with his new friends.  Their Arrival Date is to be Announced.  You are invited to come out and see George and Mules being unloaded from the trailer, looking around their new barn and exploring their permanent home here at the Refuge.
The George/Mule Barn is 25 x 30 feet  of space for the herd with its own special field and pasture.  The lumber has been delivered, the foundation holes are dug and the construction has started.
The Donkeys Winter Hay has been arriving weekly with our goal of 5000 Bales of Hay to be paid for by the end of October.  We are currently at 1850 bales of hay in the Hay Barn but we are still a ways from our much needed hay quota.  If you wish to donate $10.00 for a Bale of Donkey Hay please visit our website.  Also a reminder that all hay donors will be entered to win our lovely "Ollie" stained glass(see below) - a wonderful way to remember a sweet & kind Donkey of the Refuge who has now passed.  We miss you Ollie!

Many thanks to everyone who has donated this year!  We truly rely on our donors to support the Donkeys.

A beautiful stained glass of our "Ollie" donated by the Artist to the Refuge.  We will draw for a winner from our Winter Hay Donors 2016/17.  Each bale you purchase receives an entry.
Hanna and Butternut get cuddly.
New Arrivals to the Barn are two very cute kittens named Butternut and Pumpkin Spice.  The kittens have been winning the hearts of all the visitors and they are very happy to cuddle up in your arms and purr the afternoon away. Hanna just loves them!
Siska who arrived to the Refuge last winter with a fractured skull is still having problems.  The hole has opened up again.  The Vet has put her on a different antibiotic regime and if this doesn't take care of the problem then Siska is going to have to return to the Kamloops Vet Clinic for another operation.
Poor sweet & cuddly Siska is still suffering from the treatment she endured in her previous home.  If you don't have a chance to visit her at the Refuge, send her some extra healing hugs in your thoughts.
She is such a kind and gentle soul.
We love you Siska.
Summer is spinning by quickly so don't forget that all Members of our Donkey Refuge Society enjoy Free Admission during our 2016 Open Season.

We look forward to your visit and hope to see you soon.
