Special Update: Abner is Home!

Abner is Home
Abner has arrived, and he is a beautiful white Mammoth!

Unfortunately, we have also received 2 more surrender phone calls for 4 donkeys wanting a permanent and safe home and 2 phone calls for emergency placement of 2 donkeys that are suffering from abuse and as a result they both have behavioral problems.

At this time we will have to postpone the surrenders because we are already running out of room at the new farm and we always have to be able to take in the emergencies.
(In case you missed it: Notes from the Previous E-Bray - Abner's Long Journey)
Today Rob and I are heading to Kamloops to meet an Equine Hauler who is delivering Abner, a white Mammoth Donkey, who has been running free on a remote island off the coast of British Columbia.

Abner has had a long journey first by barge and then by road traveling to his new forever home at the Refuge.  It is going to take some time for Abner to adjust to his new home with rules and fences but it will be better for Abner's future health to be here at the Refuge.

There is no owner to assist with the cost of Abner's care and so it becomes the responsibility of the Charity to provide the cost of care for Abner for the rest of his life.

Continue to follow Abner's story on our Facebook Page.

Our work continues because of your donations and we are now having to ask for your help again.

If you can donate even $10.00 per month by becoming a Brayve Heart your annual donation of $120.00 will pay for one years cost of  hoof care for one donkey.  Hoof care is one of the most important things we can provide to keep a donkey healthy and free of pain.

We are also working on a plaque to acknowledge our Barn Raiser Donors, who we also have listed on our website.  If for any reason you would like your name NOT to be included, please email Alice at aa.donkeyrefuge@gmail.com, or Shirley at donkeyrefuge@gmail.com and we will remove you from both the online list and the plaque list.  The plaque will be finalized by April 15, so please let us know before that time.  Apologies to any donors who were not aware they were listed on the website - we are always trying to give credit where credit is due & we will take down your name upon request.  Big thanks to every single donor we have whether it's a few dollars in change or a monthly donation - every penny counts and we couldn't do it without you.

A big thank you goes out to our farrier Jim & our corporate sponsors:
