New Arrivals News
Abner was barged off of a remote island where he would break out of his home and wander freely around the Island.  Abner is a very loving donkey with a few bad kicking habits and he is off to Jim our Farrier for some training.

Abner loads in the trailer well, leads, stops and halters like a pro.  If Abner can just learn that he is now safe and no longer needs to kick out at humans he will have a much easier job of settling in at his forever home here at the Refuge.
MOM AND SON arrived at the Refuge without names, hooves that were in horrific condition and basically needing TLC and extra feed so they can put a bit of weight on.

ANNOUNCING OUR NAME THE DONKEYS CONTEST

The two cuties have had their Veterinary Checks, been wormed, deloused, and had their shots. Plus little guy was gelded on Friday. He is a little sore and he will have to be made to trot a couple of times for the next few days to help with his healing but otherwise all went well with the surgery.

These two donkeys need to be honoured for their strength and fortitude by finally being given Names. The Mom is 9 years old and the son is 3 years old and we would like to invite you to join us in the "Name the Donkeys Contest" For just $5.00 per donkey you can enter your name(s) at our website. The Winning Name for each donkey receives a Glossy Photo of the Donkey, A One Year Membership to the Donkey Refuge and various other surprise gifts in the package.

Please Enter the Name the Donkey Contest on our website with your $5.00 donation here;
http://www.turtlevalleydonkeyrefuge.com/donate. Deadline May 30th 2015.
Facebook entries will not be considered.
Proceeds of this Contest will go towards the Cost of the Veterinary Bills for these two very deserving little donkeys.
Thank You for helping us Make a Difference in these Donkeys Lives.
George's Adventure
Rob and I have been discussing putting George and Dan Patch together to see how George handles being in with another Equine. A week or so went by and we were still discussing the dynamics of where and how.  George must of got tired of waiting because early Saturday morning he lifted the gate right off its pins and crawled under it to get to the other side. On the other side is Dan Patch and Whitey. We gave it a day to see if there would be any problems and all went well. As you can see they were all eating beside each other, well sort of....with George being George there is no way Whitely was going to get the sweet parts of the hay that is left in the wheelbarrow.

George is now enjoying being in a herd and having friends for the first time in his 9 years of life.
