Good Morning, Church-Family!
As we have been serving A. Montoya this month, we have seen God answer our prayers in such great ways. He has allowed us to gain the trust of these hard-working folks as we've entered their world to relieve their burdens and bring light where they work. And now, we have been invited into that world on a new level...one that I thought many of you who aren't on the core Shine team would take interest in.
As you know, APS Title 1 schools are largely comprised of students whose families are struggling. Over 50% of A. Montoya's student population receives food services in the form of breakfast and lunch at school.
However, school does not feed families for dinner. It's not open on the weekends. Do you ever remember a time as a school child when you were happy to see Monday morning dawn? These kids are thrilled on Mondays, because it means they'll get to eat.
A. Montoya is starting a mobile food pantry that will deliver food once a month to families whose students attend the school. Principal Nation has invited us to be a part of the effort. February 23 is the first delivery date. Would you be interested in helping in this way? You would not need to do this every month. Just let me know if you'd be interested in receiving information on when the delivery dates are happening, and if you'd like to join this time. My email address is email@example.com
This opportunity reminds me of the following verse. Thank you, church, for being committed to serving those in need!
"Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’"--Matthew 25:37-40
