Traveling in Truth & Grace Part IV
What if I am the Wayward Fool?
By Elizabeth Allan
At the Loving the Wayward Souls Conference, Zack Eswine shared his painfully powerful testimony intertwined with
Ecclesiastes 9:13-17. In it, he was vulnerable and transparent in his desire to protect us from seeking after the things of the world. Here are his thoughts on how we can recognize, keep from, or turn from, being the wayward fool...

What's Happening at MCC

The Fellowship Hall is complete!  We hope you will come and check it out. However, please by aware that there is a new carpet smell.

Sisters in Stitches will be meeting Wednesday, September 12th at 11:30 in the Fellowship Hall.  Both newcomers and experienced sewers are invited to share their talents, time and ideas! We are planning upcoming workshops for enthusiastic young sewers, discussing prayer quilt ideas and looking for ideas on how we can serve other church ministries and the community. This is an organizational gathering so no need to bring a sewing machine this week. Contact: Davra Clayton.

We are so grateful to Amanda Coffman for her years of faithful service as our lead tech person. However, she has respectfully asked to step down, and we are looking for someone who would be willing to undertake her position. The Lead Tech would be responsible for recruiting and training volunteers, maintaining equipment, and working with the musicians. In some seasons, this could take more time than others, and we are considering making this a paid part-time position. Contact Elizabeth for more information.

Ladies! Please join us for Sips & Salads on September 19th at 6:00 p.m.!  Lou Ann Hunt will teach us how to make thank you cards so we can express our gratitude to the people the Lord has placed in our lives!  RSVP to Elizabeth and let her know what salad or dessert you can bring.

Community Women’s Bible Study begins in September! We offer two times: Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm beginning on September 11th and Wednesday mornings at 9:15am beginning September 12th.  We will be studying Kelly Minter’s “All Things New” from 2 Corinthians and the cost is $18. Both groups meet at the MCC and childcare is provided for Wednesday mornings only.  Contact Pam Cravens for the morning session and Sharon Albonico for the evening session.

Men’s Bible Study Fellowship (BSF)
· Begins September 11th
· Meets Tuesdays at 6:30pm in the MCC Library
Anyone who wants to know God and His Word better is invited to join with other East Mountain men whether they are familiar with the Bible or not.  Additionally, there are BSF classes for women,  children, and youth in Edgewood and  Albuquerque covering the same material. For more information, talk with Tom Young.

Women’s Fellowship Evening Bible Study
Begins September 12th at 5:30.  Please bring your bible and your favorite side-dish or dessert and join us! We will discuss Sunday’s Sermon.  Contact Elizabeth.

Christianity Explored
  • Thursday, September 13th

  • 6:00-7:00 am

  • MCC Library

MCC’s Jeff Young is leading this new 7-week Men’s Bible Study. The course covers the basics of the gospel but also addresses people who have questions, doubts or want to learn more about Christianity. Mature believers will also benefit as we spend time diving into questions many critical thinkers might have. Contact Jeff Young if you are interested or visit  https://www.christianityexplored.org/.

Simeon's Study Course for Women Reading John's Book of Revelation can seem daunting but it was very clear to the original audience. Please join us if you would like to learn more tools on how to better understand Apocalyptic Literature. We begin September 24th at 8:30 a.m. Contact Elizabeth  if you are interested.

Join us for MCC’s End of Summer Picnic!
Sunday, Sept 23 from 1-5pm
Embudo Hills Park in Albuquerque. (Same as last year)
Bring  your family, food & drinks, chairs/blanket and lawn games!  Water bottles and dessert provided. Contact Yolette Roybal for more information.

Shine is setting up a unique food pantry at A. Montoya!  Kids often go to bed without dinner, come to school too late for breakfast, and aren't sure if there will be dinner that night.  Please pray about whether you would like to donate items or money to help keep the pantry stocked year-round!  There is a list in the foyer of the items would bless the children or see Ashley Procter.

Pray for our Outreach Ministries
Please pray for Women's Community Bible Study
  • Please pray that “the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give us a spirit of  wisdom and revelation that we may know Him better.”  (Eph 1:17).   May we love like Jesus and serve Him with joy.
  • Please pray for Pamela Oliva as she teaches and cares for our children (in Bible clubs and elsewhere).  Pray for Pamela’s strength and good health, and that we would all grow “in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”   2 Peter 3:18.

Meet Mike Oliver!

Mike Oliver has managed the Building & Grounds for the campus for years. He shovels snow, plants and cares for flowers, paints, and changes light bulbs, to name just a few things.  He is gracious, patient, and undertakes tasks that need to be done that most of us don't even think about.  You might know Mike from 1st Service Sunday School, worship in 2nd Service, or Men's BSF.  We are so grateful for Mike!

God has blessed MCC with brothers and sisters who love Him, reflect Him, and serve Him. Each week our "Meet MCC" category of the (L)ink highlights one person, picked randomly; who either attends, volunteers or works for the church. Check back weekly to learn about the amazing people who make up MCC!
