There is now monarch population count data from both the Western population and the Eastern population. This is the California and Mexico overwintering data presented in graphs. Bar graphs like this are useful because it is easy to see how the numbers change each winter count.

Small increase from last winter. The population numbers in the West includes counts from over 140 different locations throughout California.

Small increase from last winter. The population numbers from the East includes counts from the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve which is a collection of twelve wintering sites.
