2015 is a pivotal year for the monarch butterfly. Milkweed is being squeezed out of farm land and the population of monarchs is near an all-time low.

As milkweed becomes scarce on farms it would be great to see it arriving in abundance in residential gardens. As your are planning your garden this year please keep in mind the importance of milkweed for monarchs and other pollinators.

Growing milkweed plants could be very entertaining for you right now, but I understand that you may not have space or time for milkweed today. That's okay.

A good way to begin helping monarchs is to eliminate your use of round-up. Try gardening without products that have a warning label.
