Second Phase of Jack London Square
Mixed-Use Project is Complete!


The London, the second phase of the three-phase project in Jack London Square, is now complete and on the market.  Located near the ferry and the farmers market, this new multi-family building includes seven residential units over ground floor parking.

This infill project now hosts the phase one project, Seawolf, an expanded and updated Victorian apartment building and restaurant, and The London.  Design challenges included complementing the adjacent historic resource while bringing a contemporary sensibility to The London that accommodates today's modern lifestyles.

Supportive Housing Campus

Gunkel Architecture is working with Housing Consortium of the East Bay (HCEB) and several stakeholder groups to build an innovative mixed-use housing and supportive services development serving some of our most vulnerable residents. The vision by community leaders is to build upon the informal services currently and previously provided on the site to members of the community, with a stronger urban fabric and more cohesive approach to well-being, including an addition of permanent supportive housing.  

With 24 units of housing and a neighborhood resource center, the development will provide residents, neighbors, and local homeless individuals with needed amenities and services, such as a community lounge, showers, laundry and mail services for the homeless, and meeting spaces, case management, counseling, clothing donation and fresh produce distribution for all neighbors in need. In addition, the state-of-the-art food-service kitchen and dining capabilities will continue Open Heart Kitchen's mission to provide hot meals to the hungry.

The project is sponsored by over a dozen faith-based groups, service providers, and local government agencies, along with individual donors excited about making a difference for their neighbors.
