   Maine's great blue herons are the star!

Dear Cooking & Eating Friends:

Did you know that the female herons, Cornelia & Nokomis, flew back to Maine this mid-April from their wintering grounds in the Bahamas & Haiti?
Learn about this fascinating bird and the Heron Observation Network of Maine from Danielle D'Auria, wildlife biologist for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as part of the annual Deer Isle- Stonington Wings, Waves & Woods, this weekend, May 17 - 19.  Visit with live owls from Birdsacre Sanctuary, view the island from the air with Cessna flights by Penobscot Island Air, and enjoy the art show at Island Heritage Trust.
