As we enter August, we wanted to share with you all a reminder of our upcoming Support Groups taking place over the summer and into September.

This is not just a month of (hopefully) beautiful weather, but also a time of new beginnings at Sutton Carers Centre. We are pleased to be reviving the Dementia Carers Peer Support Group for Sutton, in partnership with our friends at Age UK Sutton as they work to increase support for people with Dementia and their families. Our long-standing partnerships with Alzheimer's Society Sutton and the Admiral Nursing Service will also be going from strength to strength.

Please see below, and if you have any other helpful ideas for groups you would like us to set up, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Hope to see you joining us on Zoom soon - and please don't forget that you can dial in, too!

Dementia Peer Support Group: Tuesdays 11:00am - 12:00pm (weekly)
MEETINGS: 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st August and 7th, 14th, 21st* & 28th September

Sutton Carers Centre is thrilled to announce that we will be facilitating a Peer Support Group for Carers who support someone with Dementia.

As some of you may be aware, a Peer Support Group has been run by Alzheimer's Society Sutton for many years, but they have decided to focus more on their Information and Advice Services as well as maintaining their CRISP training programme for Carers (which SCC has been funding for a number of years with monies from the Council). As you do know, SCC specialises in group as well as individual support services - and Dementia Carers have shared with us many ideas they have - so we are setting up this new group to start next week.

This is funded by an initial short-term Dementia services contract with the Council, lead partners being Age UK Sutton. Alongside our Carers group, they are developing Peer Support and wellbeing sessions for people with dementia and their families (please see below).

What is new:
The Dementia Carers Peer Support Group will run weekly and our lead facilitator will be Gary, who some of you may know already, also having been a Dementia Carer himself - and the group will be co-facilitated by our Nick, and our newest member of staff Virginia, colleagues who again will be familiar from the 'Carers Connect' group and other Centre activities.

*Please note that from September, every third Tuesday of each month, our morning meeting will be replaced by an evening meeting via Zoom for Working Carers and other Carers who are unable to make the morning meeting. This group will run from 6:30pm - 7:30pm, which means that our first evening session will take place on Tuesday 21st September with no morning session at 11am.

Please contact for more information.
Our lead partner Age UK Sutton's Dementia Wellbeing Support Group for people living with Dementia and their family and friends will run every Thursday between 11:00am - 12:00pm. For further details please contact Age UK Sutton on 020 8078 0002 or please give us a call. We will be in attendance at that group as well, for any Carer-specific queries and to help co-develop our services over time, with community voices and opinions at the centre.
For more information about the Admiral Nursing Service for Sutton, or Alzheimer's Society Sutton, please give us a call on 020 8296 5611 or click here
