Bringing Beautiful Music to Audiences Everywhere
Dear Coro members and choir friends,

What a month!!!  All the hard work and planning for the Shakespeare 400 concert and the Young Musician competition were richly rewarded at our flagship concert on the 17th July. Some further details on each are shown below but Andy and I would like to record again our special thanks to all the choir and the young musician competition finalists. We were also honoured that Coro Nuovo's President - Dame Josephine Barstow DBE - was able to join us during the concert and chair the Young Musician Competition Selection panel.   If you would like to read some of the comments which I received after the event the please click here.

A Coro Nuovo Planning Team consisting of Andy Rees, Susan Fleet, Susannah Hodgson, Vivienne Carlton and myself will be meeting shortly to discuss the details of the events and programme for 2017.  The events currently on the horizon are:

   10th December at 7.30 pm - St Peter’s Chailey – A Christmas celebration
29th February 2017 – Private engagement at the Guildhall, London for St David’s Day

Young Musician Competition Winner - Hannah Corcoran
The final of Coro Nuovo’s inaugural Young Musician of the Year Competition was held on Sunday 17th July.  Four young musicians – all with a Sussex connection - competed for a £500 bursary to help with their musical studies.  Hannah Corcoran was the competition winner, delighting the audience with her Fantaisie brillante sur Carmen by Francois Borne for saxophone.

Shown below are the participants - from left to right: Rebekah Smith (soprano), Gideon Brooks (trumpet), Oliver Brooks (tuba) and competition winner Hannah Corcoran (saxophone) with Coro Nuovo President Dame Josephine Barstow DBE, and Music Director Andrew Rees.

After being selected as Coro Nuovo’s Young Musician of the Year, Hanah said: “Thank you ever so much, I feel very honoured to have been awarded it, especially as Rebekah, Gideon and Ollie all performed fantastically! I really do appreciate the support hugely. I would love to be involved with the choir as much as and in any way possible, please just let me know what I can do!”

Hannah's success has also been reported in the Brighton Argus - to read the article click here.
