TREC Brings Influx of Capital to Southern Dallas Projects

This fall, Cooksey worked with The Real Estate Council (TREC) to create public awareness of two major initiatives that will bring some much-needed capital investment to several community-driven projects in Southern Dallas.
In early November, TREC’s Community Fund hosted its first-ever, Shark Tank-style event. The program featured a conversation between Mark Cuban and Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings about the economic and investment opportunities available in Southern Dallas. Afterward, three community-driven development projects located within the GrowSouth footprint were presented to a panel of five real estate investors for possible investment. Read more here.
Later in the month, TREC Foundation announced the Forest Theater Neighborhood Project as the recipient of its inaugural Dallas Catalyst Project. Over the next three years, the project team will receive $1 million in grants and pro bono professional services from TREC and its member companies to renovate the iconic Forest Theater and the surrounding area. Read more about this exciting project in The Dallas Morning News.
Cedar Park Hosts Stormwater Drainage Town Halls

Cooksey recently worked with the City of Cedar Park, located just outside of Austin, to host a series of neighborhood town hall meetings to educate residents and secure feedback about the city’s most recent stormwater drainage and related street repairs proposal. Cooksey developed a microsite and supporting materials for residents.
