Shift Your Family Business                                                                                                    March 2016

Tip of the month:

Many people wrongly assume that much of the work in the family business space doesn't apply to them, because "that's only for really rich families".  True, not everyone can afford to bring in outsiders to help them with family circle issues, but that doesn't mean they should ignore this critical area.

You can learn a lot from what these families have done to successfully transition their family business and family wealth to succeeding generations. Watch this space and my weekly blogs for more, as I will try to bring you more on this theme going forward.

What's new:

There was a big announcement last week for Canadian Family Enterprises and the advisors who serve them.  CAFE, the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise, which has been around for over 30 years, and the much younger IFEA, the Institute of Family Enterprise Advisors, announced plans to roll out Family Enterprise Xchange (FEX) this fall.  Here is their joint announcement to their memberships.

As a member of both organizations, I applaud and support this bold initiative whose time has certainly come. Be on the lookout for more news on this in the coming months.
