Tip of the month:

Slowly but Surely

I know how impatient many people are for things to happen, whether it's getting "back to normal" now or when getting started with family discussions around what the future could look like.  What keeps coming back for me is that "slowly but surely" is almost always a better way to proceed than "let's just do it already".

Besides the idea of basic prudence and getting used to things and giving yourself and everyone else a chance to adapt, the simple act of giving yourself time to absorb, learn (or re-learn) and then proceed, all while making sure that nothing important is being missed, is typically more than worth it.

It has become a part of my "way of being" in many areas of my life, and my plan is to continue in this direction. Maybe you could benefit as well...

What's New:

PDFB

In three weeks I will be heading to Chicago to hang out with a group of people, mostly psychologists, who work with family enterprises.  This is a closed group that I've been part of for a couple of years now, but it will be my first time meeting many of them in person.  I always love to learn from others, especially those who look at things from a different perspective than I do.

IFG

On May 10th I'll be in NYC for the IFG conference that had initially been scheduled for January.  I have yet to miss one of their in person events in New York, and I'm eager to attend again. I believe that you can still register to join us.  https://www.ifgworldwide.org/2022-nyc-conference

Why Set Up a Family Office

What used to be an obscure corner of the world of wealthy families has begun to go more mainstream over the past decade or so.

Whereas the term “family office” has existed for a long time, it used to elicit raised eyebrows of confusion, which nowadays have given way to nodding heads instead.

In many cases the confusion remains, but more people have heard the term and hence think that they know what someone is referring to when they hear it used.
