It’s a brand new year and I’m so excited for the wonderful adventures I have planned for 2019! Will you join me outside this year? Even though it may be cold in some parts of the country, there are still lots of great state and local parks that you can discover during this time of year.
Happy New Year!
National Park Trust is looking for our 2019 Buddy Bison Student Ambassador! Buddy Bison Student Ambassadors are volunteer student leaders who represent National Park Trust by supporting our mission and programs. They are stewards of our parks and love to discover different public lands and waters and share what they learn with other kids. They often receive access to special park events, and enjoy meeting many park officials and rangers.
Apply NOW to be a steward for your parks and share your love of the outdoors with the nation! The deadline to apply is March 31, 2019. The first 10 qualified applicants will receive their own Buddy Bison, our pint-sized woolly mascot and new traveling companion.
“I didn’t expect to connect to the family so fast, as we saluted his son’s name I could feel what he felt. I know now the sacrifice they made.”

National Park Trust and Wreaths Across America worked together this holiday season to teach a new generation about the importance of our nation’s memorials. On December 14th, students from West Education Campus, a DC public school, assisted Gold and Blue Star families in laying 140 wreaths at the panels of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. During this very emotional process, students formed meaningful connections with the families, grasping a stronger understanding of their loss while learning about their loved ones' stories.
Our Buddy Bison Student Ambassador Bryan has been busy the last two years! He has visited 49 of our 50 states and 44 of our 60 national parks! This month, Bryan has made a list of his top 10 national parks. His favorite? Let’s just say that some call it the “Crown” of the continent.
