Congratulations to graduating class of 2016

The School of Business held its 57th Commencement Ceremony on 14 Nov, bidding farewell to over 1,300 graduates at undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study with a ceremony on the Shaw Campus.

In his remarks to graduates, Dean of School of Business, Professor Ed Snape talked about personal integrity and professionalism in their career and life after graduation. He also encouraged them to fully invest in their passions that would define their true worth.

9GAG Co-founding CEO speaks about entrepreneurship and success
Mr. Ray Chan, CEO and Co-Founder of 9GAG, spoke to a large audience on 1 Nov as part of the Entrepreneurship Seminar Series. He shared that a successful entrepreneur should be able to listen to audiences and build a product that they will love.
Renowned economist shares his world view on economic revival
Prof. Justin Lin Yi-fu, Professor and Honorary Dean of National School of Development and Director of Center for New Structural Economics at Peking University, shared his insights into “how to revive trade and economic growth in the world” with around 250 audiences on 8 Nov.
BBA student named Best Presenter in International Competition
Emmy Zhong, a BBA (Accounting) final year student, was named Best Presenter at the 2016 IIBD International Case Competition held on 18 Nov in the Netherlands. This year was the first time that the event has been held outside of Asia.
Faculty receives CPA Australia honour

Mr. Man KO of the Department of Accountancy and Law was named a Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA) by the CPA Australia in recognition of his professional experience and contributions in accounting, finance and business education.
Economics student wins award in FinTech event

Ms. Boudica Liuyi Wang, an undergraduate student of the BSocSc in China Studies (Economics Concentration) programme, presented in the ICE PITCH@FinTech Startups, and won the “Most Popular by Audience Award”.
Marketing students organise press conference to promote new album
Thirteen undergraduate students from the marketing concentration, who have worked as interns at the Emperor Entertainment Group, organised a press conference on the Li Promenade to showcase their efforts in promoting the release of alumna Angela Hui’s new album.

Over 250 alumni joined the Homecoming Dinner organised by the Department of Economics for HKBU’s 60th Anniversary Celebration on 19 Nov. Speaking at the opening remarks, Dr. Cheng Yuk-shing, Head of Department, thanked alumni for their continuous support to the alma mater and mentoring of students over the years.
