Like thousands of other Yemenis, Abdullah felt like celebrating. The 2011 uprising against the dictator, Ali Abdullah Saleh, had successfully removed him from office, and power had been given to Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Abdullah was dreaming again with hopes for a stronger economy, more plentiful jobs and perhaps some peace in his country. Unfortunately, seeds were planted for Civil War in 2011. President Hadi could not handle the growing number of jihadists, and the military still curried favor with ousted president Saleh.
The Iran backed Houthi rebels took advantage of this division in the government and in September 2014 took over Yemen's capital, Sanaa, and its airport. The ongoing Civil War was birthed, and it continues to this day. Needless to say, Abdullah's dreams, like other Yemenis, have disappeared!

Yemen was #5 on Open Doors Watch List in 2022, but it moved up to #3 in 2023! Persecution against Christians has increased!

3,774 children have died since the start of the Civil War - most under 5 years of age.

Yemen is strongly tribal, and tribal laws prohibit members from ever leaving.
It is very dangerous for Jesus followers now due to strict Islamic laws and militant Islamic groups (Houthis, Al-Qaeda Arab Peninsula [AQAP]) among others.

Prayer Needs
Praise God for the more than 100 Muslims who have come to Christ in Yemen through use of our video, "The Adha of the Injeel" over the last couple of years! Contacts were engaged. disciples have been trained, and they have begun sharing the gospel in Yemen in spite of the danger that exists!
- Pray for the Civil War to end.
- Pray for a mighty move of God's Spirit throughout Yemen, - even among jihadists and terrorists.
- Pray for protection, wisdom and fruitfulness for the new believers in Yemen, as they share the gospel.
- Pray for Yemenis desperately needing aid in the midst of a huge humanitarian crisis.
- Pray for Prime Minister Saeed, as he seeks to help the Yemeni people and broker peace in Yemen.
Update on Turkey Earthquake
According to a NY Times article dated Feb. 20, 2023, over 46,000 people are now dead, and the number is still climbing! And another earthquake measuring 6.4 hit on Feb. 20.
An acute problem now is a shortage of cholera vaccines which could increase the death toll even more!
Pray for Turkey and Syria.
