Dana and the Pearl of Great Price

What is a Dana?
A Dana is a large, heavy, perfectly round and highly prized pearl. It is the ultimate in hunting for pearls and is found on more expensive jewelry.

Qatar and its History with Pearls
Qatar used to be a very rich nation due to its pearl industry (see Pearl Fountain photo below). For many years, it made up the largest portion of its economy.
Consider:

• For years, due to the Qatar's pearl trade, many divers made long and dangerous voyages cramped on a ship and take months away from their families to come to Qatar to dive for the best pearls.
• Generations of Qataris were trained on how to dive deep (59 feet for over 2 minutes!) to collect pearls without modern diving equipment! Such was the value of pearls - particularly the Dana!

1. Pray for a spiritual awakening to take place so that Qataris would seek Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven and see this as the REAL pearl of great value - much greater than a Dana! Their eternity rests upon it!
2. Pray for these people groups who live in Qatar numbering about 458,000 people. There are 0.00% Christians found among these four groups -- Hijazi, Persian, Turk and Urdu. May the LORD send laborers of the gospel among them.
