July 21, 2015                                        Nr. of recipients: 1965

Dear ESP members and friends,

Hereby we provide you with an update about some important latest developments within the ESP network.

1. ESP Conference South Africa, 9-15 November 2015

Submitted abstracts

The submission for abstracts for oral presentations for the (over 35) workshops closed 10 July. We are very pleased that over 360 abstracts were submitted. All abstracts submitted are currently being reviewed. We aim to notify all abstract submitters about acceptance before 15 August. Invited speakers and session organisers can still submit abstracts if needed.

Submission of poster abstracts is still possible until 31 July.

Registration

Early bird registration is possible until 31 August. ESP members are entitled to a reduced conference fee.

Conference flyer

We would appreciate it very much if you could distribute the ESP Conference flyer widely in your network(s).
The flyer can be downloaded here.

2. Delay ESP membership registration

If you registered as a new ESP member, it is possible that you have not yet received an invoice to complete your registration due to 'moving house' and some personnel changes. The ESP secretariat is working on completing your registration as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

3. ESP related journals

Many session-organisers and presenters at ESP8 are working on Special Issues or other forms of publications. ESP has close links with several Journals and recently the new impact factors of all journals have been released. We are very pleased that the impact factors of both Ecosystem Services and International Journal of Biodiversity Science, Ecosystem Services & Management are rising strongly. Both Journals have applied for ISI-rating and it is expected that that will be awarded next year. Both Journals offer discounts to subscriptions and/or Open Access fees to ESP members.

4. Other news

  • TWG 4 - Mapping Ecosystem Services edited a special issue entitled ‘Best Practices for Mapping Ecosystem Services’ in the journal Ecosystem Services. New book: Valuing Natural Capital: Future proofing Business and Finance: Members and friends of ESP can get an exclusive 15% discount on the book.
  • New ESP National Network founded within the Regional Chapter on Europe: Poland. The page is still under construction and content will be added soon.
  • New task force founded within SWG 4 - Use of ES for Nature Conservation & Protected Areas: In situ Conservation of wild relatives of crops
