NGAME Update

November 2018
Officers of the Maine Guard,

We are kicking off the 2019 Membership year with a drawing on New Year's Day and one member who registers for membership between 1 November and 31 December 2018 will win a lifetime membership (a $1,000 value).

Enrollment for 2019 starts on 1 November 2018 and it is easier than ever to join or renew. Just go to click on the "Join or Renew" button in the top center.

From there - if you don't remember your login details you can just enter your email address and hit "Forgot your password." They will email it to you.

People sometimes ask what is in it for me as a member and I have attached a document with NGAUS Accomplishments for 2018 and Priorities for 2019.

We as a professional officer corps benefit from the extremely influential lobby of NGAUS and they look out for our interests as a National Guard Component.

Recent reports show that the time for Federal Recognition of officers has been reduced by 40% and the efforts of NGAUS to highlight this problem was extremely effective in shining a light on the issue. The monetary gain of an earlier Federal Recognition, which could also result in higher rank by the end of your career, could be a very large benefit.

As far as our State National Guard of Maine (NGAME) Association goes - we had a successful Golf Tournament in July that raised nearly $6,000 for scholarships and we selected and presented 5 scholarships this year. NGAME also sponsored the Warrant Officer's 100th Birthday celebration at Camp Chamberlain this last Summer.

Lastly, we sponsored 13 officers who attended the NGAUS Convention in New Orleans in August. This Officer Professional Development opportunity afforded both junior and senior officers to attend meetings and work on initiatives along with having the opportunity to hear Secretary of Defense Mattis, GEN Goldfein, GEN Lengyel, GEN Milley, and GEN O'Shaughnessy speak during the conference. This opportunity is offered to all officers through nomination from their chain of command and is a great opportunity to learn how we all fit into the big picture with other states and NGB.

We would like to grow our membership in 2019 and have some great initiatives in development. Please join us by joining an organization that represents your profession every day!

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact one of your NGAME board members.
