A chance for you or a dependent to win $500! The National Guard Officer's Association of Maine is offering four $500.00 scholarships. Any dependent of a current, deceased or retired National Guard Association of Maine (NGAME) Member who will be attending a college, university or technical school full time during the 2019/2020 school year may apply. Applications may be received between 3 March and 15 May. Applications may be obtained on-line at
Who is eligible to apply? Any dependent of a current Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) or NGAME Member, who will be attending a college, university or technical school full time during the 2019/20 school year.

The Criteria:
  • Applicant’s Sponsor must be a current member of the EANGUS or NGAME/NGAUS
  • To renew or become a new member:
    • or
  • Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better, with strong leadership qualities, work ethic and a proven commitment to family and community.
  • Applicant must provide a copy of their acceptance letter to the college they are attending.

Number of scholarships and amount: Four scholarships will be awarded, each worth $500. The scholarships are not renewable.

How are the scholarships awarded? Students must fill out the attached application and write an essay, which will be evaluated by a panel of judges. The 250 word essay will be titled: Contributing to the Future of America and answer the question: How should millennials contribute to the future of America?

When will the Scholarship Committee announce its selection? NGAME leaders will announce the winners on 1 June 2019 and present checks at the NGAME Golf Tournament in July.
Funds for the scholarships are raised at the Annual NGAME Golf Tournament. If you would like to volunteer at the golf tournament or are interested in making a donation, please visit the Contact Us page and let any Executive Committee member know. NGAME members can also volunteer for the 2019 Scholarship Committee.
